Inventor Jerome Case established the business of CASE in Racine, when he began the building of threshing machinery. Later the company gained recognition globally as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. By 1912, Case had become established in the construction equipment industry. The rapidly started to manufacture road building machinery like steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment business through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the mid-1990s to become the leading producer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland during 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising some of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural machinery.
