How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks that would have otherwise needed working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the best choice for carrying tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machinery next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, older units would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely take place.
