Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places tidy and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is best in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
