Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. For example, employees are able to perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts as opposed to having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift generally just holds one employee. These buckets are better suited to particular jobs such as electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available in gas or electric configurations and are available with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Underneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Since these equipment must be directly positioned under the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, because they need to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for cladding or window installation, since they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Cherry pickers, boom trucks and bucket trucks each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specifically for vertical work. Usually, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand in addition to an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers could lift personnel up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy materials and equipment for one location to another. There are different kinds of cranes which can carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different tasks and are suitable for specific applications and finishing certain tasks.
